Launched for the PC last month, Tempest Rising seeks to deliver classic RTS action, and goes Beyond the Battlefield with final dev-diary.
Ten Hut
If you missed its launch, Tempest Rising was one of the most interesting real-time strategy games to come along in a while. Published by Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and Knights Peak, Tempest Rising hailed from developer Slipgate Ironworks, and delivered action with a nostalgic bent. That’s to mean, the game was meant to play like the classics of the RTS genre, from decades past.
Though it stocked classic gameplay though, the strategy title looked to feature some modern niceties as well, and looked pretty darn sharp. If you’ve played it by now, or even if you haven’t yet, you might be interested in checking out the now-complete developer diary series.
Parts one through four of that are live and ready to roll on YouTube, under the heading of Beyond the Battlefield. The last installment just debuted, which is below for your convenience, but if you’d like to check out the whole series, click here.
Tempest Rising launched for the PC on April 17th, but Slipgate Ironworks isn’t resting on any laurels. The developer has so far dropped a multiplayer-centric update, which arrived on April 24th. In that, the game added “ranked matches and global leaderboards”, but there’s even more on the horizon.
According to the press release, there’s some much chunkier content coming. Fans can expect “spectator mode, party queueing, and the campaign’s Veti becoming the third playable faction”. Look for all of that to arrive some time down the line.
