Nintendo Download: May the Games Begin

This week’s Nintendo Download is all about… pre-orders? Yep, with the Switch 2 incoming Nintendo is getting fans ready for what’s new.

The next big thing

As any Nintendo fan knows by now, the Switch 2 is indeed nigh. The console successor to the runaway success that the original Switch has been is on the way and primed for a spring launch, landing in stores on June the fifth.

And while that console will be accompanied by some key launch titles like Mario Kart World, there are many more on the way for year one. Those include marquee games from Nintendo itself, but also some third-party launches that haven’t been seen on a Nintendo console in years. And more or less, those are the focus of today’s Download.

Although BRAVELY DEFAULT FLYING FAIRY HD Remaster is on today’s pre-order docket, we’ve seen that series on Switch before. What we haven’t seen are the likes of the modern Street Fighter series and EA Sports Madden NFL, both of which are up right now for pre-order as well. However you feel about those particular games, it’s exciting to see Nintendo getting back into some of the bigger name third-party releases, and bodes well for the future of the upcoming hardware.

But what if you want something to play right now? Well, in that case, this week isn’t all that thrilling. Trials are up for a few Star Wars titles, but there really isn’t anything else that jumped out at us. Maybe you’ll have a different view however, so to see the whole list of what’s new, scroll down.
