Some of the best-loved baseball titles of all time are back with two generations of Bases Loaded games, out now on the PC.
Home Run!
If you ask any baseball fan what their favorite hardball games were from the NES and SNES eras, we’ve gotta believe the majority of them would respond with Bases Loaded. First released by Jaleco way back in 1988, Bases Loaded presented a non-licensed sim that became an NES staple.
In much the same way, 1991 brought its sequel Super Bases Loaded to the SNES, upping the ante visually, but keeping the majority of what made the original such a hit. Oddly enough, we can’t remember either game appearing anywhere since, but that’s changed as of today.
Thanks to publisher Rock It Games, both titles are now ready for play the PC, with a double pack that’ll bring back some serious 8/16bit nostalgia.
“Bases Loaded and Super Bases Loaded have left a lasting legacy in sports gaming, and we’re very excited to work with City Connection to bring these classics to PC players,” said Michael Devine, CEO of Rock It Games. “Rock It Games is making sure to preserve the original charm of each game while making them easily accessible to fans both old and new.”
Rock It Games press release
Jaleco Sports Bases Loaded for the PC will allow players to switch between Bases Loaded and Super Bases Loaded. It also comes packed with an in-game manual and a CRT mode, for those who like to get the full effect of playing on the living room floor.
Other than that though, it sounds like these are the classics as you know them. Rock It Games says fans can expect “realistic retro-style voices, action, and graphics”, on top of twelve teams to pick from, single and multiplayer options, leader boards, and both full season and single-game play.
Jaleco Sports Bases Loaded is out now via Steam and GOG, thanks to a “collaboration” with City Connection, and is priced in at $12.99 USD.
