An X-Men classic returns this summer, along with a rarely seen prequel from Chris Claremont

Returning to stores this summer, Days of Future Past is easily one of the best-loved X-Men tales of all time. But have you ready the “prelude”?

Is that Iron Man?

You might’ve missed it, we sure did, but Chris Claremont actually revisited his classic Days of Future Past storyline in 2020. The iconic X-scribe unleashed a “prelude” story as a part of a hardcover book called Marvel Made Paragon Collection: Chris Claremont.

The tale, which featured Salvador Larroca on pencils, took things back to its particular future of the Marvel Universe, where the X-Men stood against a world dominated by Sentinels. A prequel to the main story, this prelude told just how it came to be that Rachel Summers was freed from being a Hound. But if you missed out on that title, then you missed out on the story, as it’s never appeared anywhere else. Til now.

Thanks to a newly announced and upcoming book entitled X-Men by Chris Claremont: Prelude to a Future Past #1, this special prelude story will be seeing the light of day once again.

Revisit the nightmarish world of tomorrow that is Days of Future Past in a revelatory prelude by the legendary scribe and illustrated by his X-TREME X-MEN collaborator, Salvador Larroca! Discover at last how the surviving X-Men saved one of their own, Rachel Summers, from her torment as a Hound – and find out which surprising faces had a vital part to play in the mutant resistance! Presented alongside the original saga in which Claremont and John Byrne unveiled their darkly dystopian vision of the future Marvel Universe – where Sentinels stalk the Earth, and the X-Men are humanity’s only hope…until they die! The giant-sized one-shot will also include bonus materials celebrating Chris Claremont’s fifty-plus years in comics!

Marvel Comics press release
