Console players awaiting The Elder Scrolls Online‘s Update 44 finally have their upgraded Battlegrounds PvP and fresh Companions.
Back to Tamriel
We first told you about Update 44 last month, when the drop landed for the PC and Mac versions of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Online. The centerpieces of it were the alterations that the update brought to the game’s player vs player “Battlegrounds” mode.
Mainly, Update 44 changed the tri-team combat structure of the mode to a two tiered one (though the former might return for special engagements). That alteration brought in either four on four or eight on eight action, with the latter including more power-ups as well, to spice things up.
Now those same changes have officially landed for the PlayStation and Xbox versions of ESO, along with seven new maps for players to battle across.
New companions, and some streaming too
Along with the mode changes, Update 44 also delivers a pair of new companion characters. The High-Elf mage and Dragonknight Tanlorin is joined by Khajiit Necromancer Zerith-var, and as long as you have an “active ESO Plus membership”, both are available for free. Don’t have that? Well you can still get the two characters, but it’ll cost you some crowns from ESO’s in-game Crown Store.
Showing off the multiplayer changes too, is a special livestream that’s set to debut later this month. From content creator SypherPK and Alienware, the ESO Battlegrounds Brawl livestream will air via Bethesda‘s Twitch channel on November 20th, at 12:30pm eastern time.
This isn’t a passive presentation either, as SypherPK will be teaming with a squad of ESO devs to enter the Battlegrounds against players who want to test their mettle. Expect a fantasy throwdown plus some “Twitch drops and other prizes available to win”. Also, if you miss it, Bethesda says that the ESO Stream Team will be live “over the coming weeks”, so there’s even more streaming on the horizon.
