The “first major DLC” expansion for Atari 50: The Anniversary Collection is here, with The Wider World of Atari’s 19 new games.
No Jaguar titles, unfortunately
Yes, we really mean that, as we have a bit of a soft spot for the Jag here at BG. Of course, it should also be mentioned that while the base game included some Jaguar games, the standouts that were not in the box are pretty much all licensed. Might’ve been some tough gets there, is all we’re saying. And anyway, The Wider World of Atari is still packed, including 19 additional games from across the legendary company’s history.
That’s not all either, as those 19 games are included on a new timeline as well, which is in turn loaded up with eight new video segments. So if you’re a big Atari fan or a student of the industry, there might be a good deal of cool stuff included other than playables.
Actually, if that base game is anything to go by, that’s probably a safe bet.
Fans can explore the 19 games included in this first DLC:
- Berzerk – 2600
- Berzerk Voice Enhanced – 2600
- Berzerk – 5200
- Berzerk – Arcade
- Frenzy – Arcade
- Red Baron – Arcade
- Sky Diver – Arcade
- Avalanche – Arcade
- Destroyer – Arcade
- Super Bug – Arcade
- Football – Arcade
- Stellar Track – 2600 (Sears exclusive)
- Submarine Commander – 2600 (Sears exclusive)
- Steeplechase – 2600 (Sears exclusive)
- Atari Video Cube – 2600
- Desert Falcon – 2600
- Off the Wall – 2600
- Sky Diver – 2600
- Avalanche – Atari 8-bit
Atari press release
The Wider World of Atari is out now to add onto all versions of Atari 50: The Anniversary Collection, and will run you $7.99 USD. If you have the base game on the Atari VCS console however, you’re already good to go, and can download the expansion for free as a part of an update. Nice little bonus, that.
The new DLC is also just the first of two drops that’ll be arriving this year. The second is titled The First Console War, and will land on November 8th, 2024. While that will arrive for all versions of the game, it’ll also be included with the new and upcoming physical edition of Atari 50, called Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition.
That new version is coming for the Switch and PS5, and arrives with the second pack, on December 8th.
