Fighting celebration Evo played host to some big news about Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, including the intro of the TMNT.
Turtle power!
The TMNT renaissance is continuing in a big way here in 2023. With multiple successful toy lines, loads of comics, and a movie in theaters now, it’s a good time to be a Turtle. But what’s that you say? There’s no new video game to go along with all of that? Well…
While there isn’t a standalone video game (those came last year), there is a little Turtle Power in the form of some Street Fighter 6 DLC. That much was revealed yesterday, at the fighting event known as Evo, and it’s actually pretty neat.
Now, just to temper expectations, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles aren’t coming to SF6’s arcade modes. It would have been awesome, but you won’t be able to play as one of the team in a story of any kind. But be that as it may, there are still some interesting options.
The biggest and best of those will almost assuredly be being able to field custom avatars, dressed as the TMNT, in the World Tour and Battle Mode sections of the fighting game. More or less, you’ll be able to play as your favorite Turtle in that way, though there is more to the content pack.
Fans will also be able to “style their custom avatars with new TMNT gear and emotes, apply fun new Titles, send TMNT stamps to the chat, customize their in-game mobile wallpaper and camera frames, and even turn their World Tour and Battle Hub custom avatar into their favorite Turtle”, according to Capcom.
Here’s a look:
The TMNT content pack arrives for all versions of Street Fighter 6 tomorrow, August 8th, 2023.
A.K.I., but not that AKI
Following up on the TMNT news, there’s also a look at A.K.I. to share. And no, we’re not talking about the famed wrestling-game developer, but instead the latest character addition to the roster of SF6. She’s lean, mean, and a lil’ obsessed with poisons.
Unlike with the Turtles stuff, A.K.I. is still a ways off, and is scheduled to arrive some time this fall. So with that in mind, the first look at her in action is really more of a teaser than anything else. Still, you can tell plenty from it, as she interacts with a fighting-avatar in World Tour mode.
