Classic arial shooter Terminal Velocity is back in Boosted Edition form

Take to the skies and ground some hostile aliens in Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition. Developer Terminal Reality’s classic shooter is back.

Fire at will

Originally released for the PC back in the 1990s, Terminal Velocity casts players in the role of a fighter pilot. But of course, this is a sci-fi romp, and it’s not exactly a jet that you’re flying. In Terminal Velocity’s far future, Earth has been stabbed in the back by a former alien ally, and that means war.

And so players strap into their high-tech fighters to battle against the hostiles across 9 different planets. Doesn’t sound like a lot? Well, consider that those 9 worlds shake out to be “27 total levels and over 400,000 square miles of battlefield”.

Now the classic is back, and ready to fly once more thanks to Ziggurat Interactive.

Originally developed in 1995 by Terminal Reality (the creators of the BloodRayne franchise, led by the former lead developer of Microsoft Flight Simulator), and published by 3D Realms (Duke Nukem), Terminal Velocity™was critically praised for its exhilarating, high-speed action gameplay and cutting-edge graphics. Updated for modern platforms, Terminal Velocity™: Boosted Edition includes smoother gameplay, cleaner graphics, a fast framerate, and improved sound, as well as achievements and trophies — a first for the game!

Ziggurat Interactive press release

Ziggurat and Terminal Reality boast that Terminal Velocity is all about combat, and that’s certainly evidenced by that trailer. That includes a full arsenal of dogfighting moves and weaponry, with action framed by a full 360 degrees of audio.

Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition is out now for the PC and Switch, with Xbox and PlayStation editions coming “soon”.
