A new age dawns in IDW’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures

The age of The High Republic hasn’t been explored too much in Star Wars media, unless you count the EU. But that little drought is about to end.

High adventure

Announced last year, The High Republic era is about to be a much bigger force (pardon the pun) in Star Wars. Disney will be expanding the lore of their galaxy considerably, with books, comics and more in 2021.

It’s the comic book end that we’re talking here of course, with publisher IDW. Specifically, their upcoming Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures ongoing series.

Set 200 years before the events of the sequel films, The High Republic Adventures showcases the glory days of the Star Wars universe’s original galactic governing body. From writer Daniel José Older, artist Harvey Tolibao, and colorist Rebecca Nalty, the book will be suitable for all ages, though IDW says it’s “aimed at middle grade readers”. So probably expect a light, adventurous tone.

In Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures, the Jedi have long maintained galactic peace… but the coming of a powerful new adversary called the Nihil threatens to end it all. Now, a group of Master Yoda’s young Padawan learners must protect the Republic while learning the lessons that will one day lead them to become powerful Jedi in their own right.

IDW press release

Available with a pair of cover variants, Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1 is set to hit shelves on February 3rd, 2021.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
