Sam & Max Save the World heading to Switch and PC next month

Those lovable detectives Sam and Max are back, and coming to the Nintendo Switch and PC next month in Sam & Max Save the World Remastered.

Hey little buddy

Not to be confused with the PC point ‘n’ click, 2006’s Sam & Max Save the World is coming back around for another go. This time the game is newly remastered and ready for action on the Switch and PC, courtesy of Skunkape Games.

If you remember, the original version of the game was a Telltale Games production. But with that studio now in the defunct category, Skunkape has picked up the slack, and seen fit to bring the Freelance Police back for another round.

Not exactly the same game that was seen last, Sam & Max Save the World Remastered is sporting several improvements. Obviously the graphics have been freshened up, but there’s also gamepad support now, as well as “restored audio” and a laundry list of tweaks.

Here’s a look at it in action:

Created by comic artist Steve Purcell, Sam and Max are a six-foot canine detective and a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing who dole out their own brand of comedic justice as the Freelance Police.

In Sam & Max Save the World, the duo investigate a hypnosis plot that spins to global proportions to involve washed-up child stars, the media, the mafia, the US government, the internet, and the bright side of the moon. A wacky story, brain-tickling puzzles, eccentric characters, and oddball humor provide a casual gameplay experience that was billed as “gaming’s first sitcom” upon its original release.

Sam and Max press release

Sam & Max Save the World is set to hit the Switch and PC on December 2nd. But there’s a nice bonus too, if you owned the Telltale version, and pre-order now. How nice? How’s 50% off the price sound?

Through December 31, anyone who owns the original Sam & Max Season One on Steam or GOG will receive 50% off Sam & Max Save the World Remastered. People who originally purchased the game from Telltale’s website can claim a Steam or GOG key through the Skunkape website to take advantage of this offer.
