Black Widow is back in another new #1 from Marvel

It’s yet another fresh start for a book, as Marvel Comics has announced a new run of Black Widow. The Avenger/super spy returns next month.

Is this the end of Black Widow?!

Well, no, it’s not. This is a new first issue starring the character, though the above is the way that Marvel is billing the first arc to grace the new book’s pages.

Don’t get turned off by the cliche just yet though, because the setup actually sounds kind of interesting. Add to that the great-looking art from Elena Casagrande, and this might be a book to watch.

What happens when Black Widow’s deadliest enemies discover a way to take her out? Find out this September when Eisner-nominated writer Kelly Thompson (Captain Marvel) and rising star artist Elena Casagrande (Catwoman) take the Marvel Universe’s greatest spy on a heartbreaking thrill ride into uncharted territory. Natasha Romanoff’s world is upended when the superspy Avenger finds herself trapped in a mystery that even she can’t solve.

“It’s a bold new vision for Black Widow and one I am really hoping people can get excited about,” Thompson told Marvel.com earlier this year. “Our first arc has some of the stuff you would expect in a Black Widow book, but I think twisted in a new way that’s interesting – and where she ends up at the end of this highly personal and life changing story is ALSO interesting!”

Black Widow #1 can be pre-ordered right now and will be available at comic shops some time in September (next month).
