DST makes May the 4th announcement, Darth Maul bust pre-order tomorrow

Missed it by one day. While today might be May the 4th, DST’s new Darth Maul Hologram bust doesn’t go on pre-order till tomorrow.

Revenge of the 5th

So, technically tomorrow is still a Star Wars ‘Holiday’… I think. Today is May the 4th which is the more widely recognized one, but tomorrow is Revenge of the 5th, a day marked by fans. With that title, it’s actually kind of fitting, given the subject of this news.

And that is that we’ve got a pretty slick new bust from Diamond Select Toys and collectible-maker Gentle Giant to talk about. Announced today, the bust will go on presale tomorrow. It’s a fairly limited collectible too, so if you want one you might want to set a timer.

Made by Gentle Giant, this ‘holographic’ Darth Maul bust is fashioned to look like the holograms that are used for communication in the Star Wars universe. As you can see, the effect is a cool one, with the entirety of the bust itself being cast in translucent blue, and seated upon a jet-black base.

With a 1/6th scale, the bust stands at 7″, and represents Maul as he appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Packed in “a full-color box with a certificate of authenticity”, this Gentle Giant exclusive is limited to just 500 pieces.

The sale will be going live on GG’s website throughout the remainder of this week. That does mean that club members will get first crack.
