Dark Horse’s Starship Down explores ancient astronauts

Can history be erased? Ancient astronaut theory meets X-Files in Dark Horse Comics’ new book, Starship Down.

I’m not saying it’s aliens…

Ancient astronaut theory has been around for a long time. It’s the idea that, somewhere in the distant past, aliens came to Earth and either taught mankind or meddled with us. Thanks to a certain cable TV program, it’s gotten much more attention in recent years, and it seems to be one of the base ideas behind Starship Down.

A cool sounding book, Starship Down follows an anthropologist Jocelyn Young as she is brought in on the discovery of a crashed ship. It’s extremely old as well, and that of course begs some very pointed questions.

Starship Down follows cultural anthropologist Jocelyn Young after the earth-shattering discovery of an extraterrestrial ship buried deep under the ice of Siberia.

As she consults with US Naval Intelligence on the investigation, meddling Russians, Vatican officials, media spotlight, and her own insecurities threaten her efforts to keep the fabric of society from crumbling as mankind discovers its startling origin.

Keep your eyes on this one, it could be a book to watch for 2020. Starship Down #1 arrives from the team of (writer) Justin Giampaoli, (artist) Andrea Mutti, (colorist) Vladimir Popov, and (letterer) Sal Cipriano on March 18th.
