It’s no secret that the Switch is one of Nintendo’s best selling machines ever, and Thanksgiving week proved it. The console had it’s best US sales yet.
Dominating
The Switch is a powerhouse. Okay, maybe not in a technical sense, but the little semi-portable is cleaning up at retail, proving that Nintendo has the magic back in a big way.
How big? Consider the sales that took place over the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. The Switch moved some 830k units. Yes, that’s just for the week – and it’s just for the US too. So figure even more globally.
Now, there is a caveat present, and that’s that Nintendo is counting both the Switch and the Switch Lite in those numbers. If you’re unaware, the Lite model which debuted earlier this year, is a handheld-only version of the hardware. So there’s no docking at home possible.
Yeah that’s cheating a little bit, but even though it’s portable only, it’s still a Switch. So I think it’s pretty safe to make lump all of these sales in with one another. And, of course, so does Nintendo.
“Holiday shoppers see the value of Nintendo Switch, which offers a vast library of games for every type of player,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Whether shopping for the ideal gift or picking one up for yourself, the Nintendo Switch family of systems provides options that fit every play style.”

As you might imagine, there were quite a few games sold in there too, with the hardware. Chief among those were Pokemon Sword and Shield. The two releases combined to move over 3 million units.
All in all, this is shaping up to be a very nice Holiday season indeed for the Big N.
