If you’ve been digging Netflix’ anime-like Castlevania series, then you’re going to love this. The license for the show has been gobbled up by DST.
Castlevania rises
I’m just so happy that Castlevania is back. Maybe that’s because it’s a true classic in just about every way. Since the somewhat recent reboot that was Lords of Shadow though, there’s been nary a peep. But that’s starting to change. While there have been no games announced, there are ever more surrounding elements popping up. First and foremost is the animated series on Netflix.
The show debuted last year, and ran with the original mythos. It picked up the story during Castlevania III (more or less), and put an interesting spin on that legacy. Now a second season is about to dawn, also on Netflix, and we’re finally going to be getting some ‘Vania goodies.
“The Castlevania franchise has a rich, deep history, and the new animated series takes all of it to a new, vibrant, visually superb level,” said Diamond Select Toys president Chuck Terceira. “I’m personally a fan of the show, and I can’t wait to help execute some of its amazing character designs in 3-D.”
And “execute” those designs, DST will. The company will have a load of Castlevania-themed stuff out there, though you’ll have to wait a bit. The line won’t hit retail till next year some time, though as I mentioned, it sounds like it’ll be stacked.”Select action figures, Gallery PVC dioramas, Vinimates vinyl figures, Minimates mini-figures, resin statues and more”, will all be landing at retail.
