Warhammer 40k Eternal Crusade landing on PC next month

The Eternal Crusade in Warhammer 40k’s dark, gothic future is coming to PC first, starting next month.

Delay of the console Crusade

“We are committed to delivering the best experience for the release on September 23rd, with a PC version that matches our ambitions in terms of content and quality and sets the runway for our free lifetime expansions.” said Stephen Mulrooney, CTO & Senior Vice President of PC-Console Publishing at Behaviour Digital “To pause the development of the console versions was a tough decision but will result in an optimized and extended experience when released.

Delays of any length are never fun. This one kind of sounds like it might be for a while too. Originally intended to release for all platforms at the same time, putting the breaks on the console version of The Eternal Crusade is a tough pill for fans.

The game looks pretty nice honestly, and that’s something of a surprise. I say that mainly because I don’t think I know anyone who’s got The Eternal Crusade on their radar really. Though it certainly looks like something that you might want to start keeping tabs on.

In the grim darkness of the far future…

If you’re not familiar (I wasn’t), the game includes a four-pack of Warhammer 40k classic factions. Eldar, Chaos, Orks, and -of course- the classic Space Marines are all included. The action here is contained within a single planet, with all of the races fighting over it in what looks to be massively multiplayer style, though the publisher does say that both PvP and PvE will be supported.

Gamers will be able to choose from an impressive 20 different sub-factions in those four races mentioned above. Even better, there’ll be “hundreds of weapons”, as well as “customization options and accessories drawn from 29 years of Warhammer 40,000 lore to create their perfect warriors”. Who can argue with that?

If you’re a PC gamer, then you’ll be able to get your hands on Warhammer 40k: The Eternal Crusade starting on September 23rd. As for that console version, well, sit tight. There’s no release window as of yet.
