Zubmariner DLC makes a splash into beta
The Zubmariner DLC was announced for the indie game Sunless Sea back in 2015. Sunless Sea was well received for its eerily atmosphere and stories on a dark sea, full of possibility and danger. It was a unique blend of creepiness, hints of Lovecraft horror, and lighthearted, dry humor.
The Zubmariner DLC, which would allow the players to dive beneath the black surface of the underground sea, was well received as a concept. It has taken some time though, having been in development for over half a year with only a handful or previews. Despite this, it has entered beta testing as of June 23rd. Those within the beta can start a new game with access to the Zubmariner.
However, Failbetter Games has asked those in the beta to not to share story details, screenshots or videos of the beta. Their reasoning for this is that they do not want people to become heavily attached to something that may be changed. Therefore, it can be concluded that radical additions to the Zubmariner are, at the very least, being considered.
The beta is currently closed, being invite only and with invites no longer being open. Failbetter Games, the developer of Sunless Sea, has promised that they will reopen invites at a later date. Nevertheless, Failbetter has promised that the game will be a substantial expansion to the base game. New stories, new creatures, and new horrors will all be added.
There is no current release date for the DLC. Sunless Sea is available on PC and Mac
