Ready for Star Wars Battlefront’s Outer Rim DLC?

Battlefront expands with new maps, modes, and playable heroes.

It’s no secret that the game launched without much in the way of content, but “Hutt Contracts, a new Spectator Mode to watch others play, an increased Level Cap, weapons and more” are all heading to the newest chapter in the Star Wars Battlefront series. From the press release, it sounds like Season Pass-holders might be getting access to this stuff first when it hits in a few days (on March 22nd), but more will be clear when EA shows all that the Outer Rim pack will offer some time early next week.

What we definitely do know is that the pack will fortify the base game with “new weapons like the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol, maps on Sullust and at Jabba’s Palace, a new game mode called Extraction, and two new playable characters: Greedo and Nien Nunb”. All in all, that sounds pretty great, and I love the fact that the new maps are totally new, and not riffs on what’s already in the game like Hoth. Even Jabba’s Palace, which is technically on the planet of Tatooine, look radically different that the Tatooine map that’s already in the game. As for Nien Nunb and Greedo, ehh… I could think of better choices for a first expansion, though they do seem to be pretty neat, gameplay-wise.

Oh, and if you wanna see the expansion pack in action as soon as possible, Battlefront’s Twitch channel is broadcasting matches right here. It’s broadcasting on a schedule though, so you might have to wait a bit for a new ‘episode’.
