Don’t look for any gameplay in this new trailer for Activision and Bungie’s Destiny, though it still manages to be pretty cool.
As far as live action, non-gameplay trailers go, that was a pretty sharp one, no? Nonetheless, it is pretty interesting that the launch trailer has no actual gameplay in it, since Destiny is a pretty darn good-looking title from all accounts (and our preview). I guess Activision figured that we’ve seen enough of the game in motion though, so here we are with a decidedly social-themed trailer that highlights the fact that you’ll have to work together with other gamers to actually play all the way through Destiny.
Although you can play through a good chunk on your own, you will have to get partnered up with some buds for big time, end game events. It’s a very interesting tactic indeed since it really makes Destiny neither a solo campaign game, nor a multiplayer-only affair- and yet both of those things at the same time. Definitely a new breed of shooter.
Will it go over with gamers? We’ll find out tomorrow (September 9th) when Destiny arrives on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
