Vikings meet magic in Tangrin’s new RPG Kyn

Viking culture has sort of slipped underneath the radar in gaming, but developer Tangrin Entertainment has a little something to say about that.

Off the top of my head, I can think of maybe two viking-themed games… pretty much ever. Kyn is very different form either one too, as this one seeks to marry the harsh warriors of the frozen north to an action/RPG game with plenty to hack into and plenty of loot to collect.

You’ll be able to command a squad of up to six viking’s in the game, who you’ll be able to customize to best fit your play style. Your troops can be weapon masters, trapsters who move quickly about the battlefield, or proficient with the strengths of the mind and casting spells. In fact, two of those skillets play heavily onto the game’s themes, as Tangrin is seriously playing up the trapping elements with plenty of chances to ensnare baddies as you play, and magical nature of the world in Kyn. They also promise over 100 different elements that you can use to craft both weapons and armor, which should prove to be a came unto itself.

Prepare the longboats and set sail for early 2015, Kyn is scheduled to hit Windows PC, Mac, and Linux systems some time in the new year.
