Well, this is certainly different. An FPS where things only happen if and when you move your character.
Super… Hot.
Landing on Kickstarter right now from the SUPERHOT Team, SUPERHOT is most definitely different. The FPS spun out of 2013’s 7DFPS gaming challenge and has drawn enough attention that the development team has started a Kickstarter campaign to try and get the game funded and onto download services for play on the PC and Mac.
Even though it might not look it, SUPERHOT does have a story (and is actually touted as being story-driven) and is not a puzzle game… well, not really. There is a kind of puzzle in pretty much everything you’ll do in the game though. Th gameplay centers around your character moving to control time. So your actual movement dictates whether anything happens in the game’s world.
Start moving towards your opponent, and his bullets will move through the air, stop and they’ll freeze mid-shot. With that, SUPERHOT takes on an almost puzzle aesthetic as you try and dodge bullets by predicting where they’re going when you freeze time. It’s pretty neat actually, and definitely something very different for a genre that usually only shakes things up by asking you to search for cover.
SUPERHOT is on Kickstarter right now and can be backed right here. Additionally, you can grab some more info about the game here, on the official site.
