X-Men: No More Humans original graphic novel gets a trailer

Remmber ‘no more mutants’? Well what if there were no more humans?

Best-selling author Mike Carey and chart-topping artist Salvador Larocca gather Marvel’s most popular mutants for an all-new original graphic novel, X-MEN: NO MORE HUMANS! Spinning out of the New York Times Bestselling X-Men: Battle of the Atom, this landmark epic features an all-new blockbuster story set in the continuity of the Marvel Universe. For years, the X-Men have dreamed of a world safe from humans. But now, their dream is about to become their worst nightmare. When all the world’s humans mysteriously vanish, it’s up to the disparate factions of X-Men to come together, get to the bottom of the mystery and find a way to bring humans back. But do all the mutants want their human brethren to return?

X-MEN: NO MORE HUMANS will be available May 7th in book stores, comic shops, the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices) and online in the Marvel Digital Comics Shop. Trailer voice-over by Jesse Falcon.

I love the idea of these comic book ‘trailers’. There’s something inherently neat about seeing a comic, which is a decidedly non-moving affair, play out as if it were a motion picture. Of course, that’s not the only cool thing about No More Humans as it’s also one of the first of Marvel’s new Original Graphic Novels.

All the rage years ago, originally scripted and told stories told in graphic novel format (meaning it’s not a collected edition) were commonplace. The art form fell far from the spotlight as the 21st century dawned and really has languished in comic book purgatory ever since. Last year though, the industry seemed to be turning back to the graphic novel format and now Marvel is plowing ahead with books like this.

And X-Men: No More Humans is a pretty major book too as it takes place in the modern X-Men timeline and features most of the major players from the comics along with a story that’s as big as you can get. Watch for it on May 7th at your LCS or on the Marvel Comics App.
