Lucario returns to Smash

Sakurai reveals yet another returning character in Super Smash Bros. The pokemon Lucario is back, and he looks as good as ever.

There seems to be an awful lot of Super Smash Bros Brawl characters returning for a second time around. King De De De, Pit from Kid Icarus, Toon Link, Olimar, Lucario and even Sonic have made the cut. It’s a relief to say the least, especially after hearing Sakurai say that the next Super Smash Bros roster would be smaller than Brawl‘s. Although it does make one wonder, how many more slots are there to be filled? Will we be lucky enough to have newcomers like Shulk from Xenoblade, or Chrom from the Fire Emblem Awakening? We also have to consider the characters that will be axed as well. It’s highly unlikely any pokemon will be discarded, considering the franchises popularity.

Unfortunately for Mewtwo fans, this is all but a confirmation that he won’t make it in. Fortunately though, Lucario is a nice addition to the Smash roster, and satiates some of that need for an intelligent and powerful pokemon. Aesthetically, he looks unchanged for the most part. His design doesn’t seem very detailed in comparison to his Super Smash Bros Brawl model. We see some neat screenshots of him though, even one with Yellow Devil showing up.
