Midnight City announces Krautscape; Slender and Double Dragon heading to new platforms

The developer will be bringing three of its games to all-new platforms in 2014.

Before we get into the other two, Krautscape is a completely new game from Midnight City and ail be headed to the PC by way of Steam this year. The game, from creator Mario von Rickenbach, features “hybrid bird-like flying cars and color-soaked racetracks in the sky”. At the very least, that sounds like something that’s worth seeing.

Players can jump off the track and glide through open air to avoid obstacles and collect special items. Driver-pilots then return to the track to gain speed and score points to win, creating a tension and balance all its own. The dynamic racetrack is generated real-time by the lead vehicle; turn right and the track builds right, turn left and it builds left – meaning no two races are ever entirely the same. In addition to speed trials, different modes challenge players to do more than just be the first to cross the finish line. Combining a track that drivers can steer and cars that can fly, Rickenbach has created a game that looks and plays like nothing else.

There’s no release date yet for Krautscape, but you can expect it some time in the first quarter of this year on the PC for $9.99 USD.

As for Slender: The Arrival and Double Dragon: Neon, you probably know all about both by now. Originally appearing on the PC (and in your nightmares), Slender Man will be making the long-legged stride on over to consoles and appear to haunt your Xbox 360 and PS3. Midnight City is promising “insanity and paranoia of the original, the latest iteration will delve deeper into the lives of those Slender Man has touched” for this new iteration of the game which will be coming back to the PC as well. I’m somewhat out of the loop and unaware of the Slender Man mythos, which actually started life as an internet urban myth (at least, I think it’s a myth. Oh god please let it be a myth). If you are too and you like a good horror spook-filled romp, this one might be right up your alley.

Unlike Slender Man, Double Dragon: Neon won’t scare you any, but it is one heck of an old school beat’em up. The game has been out on consoles for a while and will now be appearing on the PC with its patented ’80s nostalgia and mix-tape powered special moves intact. Fans of the game might want to return to the mean streets to take on the evil Skullmageddon one more time too thanks to the new online co-op ode that developer Abstraction has added in for the new release. The game is fun in single-player mode, but really shines in multi, so the new addition is a pretty big one for Neon.

Both Slender: The Arrival and Double Dragon: Neon will be available in short order for consoles and the PC. And much like Krautscape, they’ll both cost you $9.99 USD on their respective platforms.

…seriously, Slender Man isn’t a real thing right?
