Director Christopher Nolan goes from Dark Knight to deep space with next Holiday Season’s Interstellar.
Granted, that’s not all that descriptive and there isn’t too much to that teaser other than Matthew McConaughey’s oh-so smooth voice-over , but it’s hard not to get excited about a grand sci-fi film from Nolan. He has of course, brought audiences such movie masterpieces as Inception and the Batman ‘Dark Knight’ movies and no doubt has some very interesting things on tap for Interstellar.
What we do know about the film so far is that it centers on the discovery of a new technology that allows for travel between star-systems, allowing humans to go out into the great beyond. If you’re up on your current science, then you know that there are whole lot of emerging tech concepts that could see this go from fantasy to reality in the relative blink of an eye too, so this might be one grounded in more than a little bit of science. Things like ion engines and warp drive (I know right?!) are on the discussion table and in the labs right now and a future where we all could travel between the stars might not be all that far off.
Interstellar looks like it’ll be a film that goes for the classic Hollywood ‘wow’ factor and awes audiences with more wonder than big explosions- and that’s something I’m definitely looking forward to. There’s no firm release date as of yet for the film, but expect to see Interstellar hitting the theaters next year at this time.
