Bayonetta 2 may be a long way away, but that doesn’t mean some new Bayonetta action isn’t on the horizon. A new anime called Bayonetta: Bloody Fate is coming to Japanese theaters in November.
Gonzo Studios, responsible for anime such as Afro Samurai and Helsing will be working on Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. As expected, the Gonzo touch apparent in the trailer; beautifully animated scenes combined with ultra violence. Combine all of this with Bayonetta’s grace on the battlefield and you’ve got what looks to be an outstanding production at hand.
The anime is faithful to the game, and has some of the main characters from the Bayonetta in it, being sure not to stray too far from the original story. Luka appears filming Bayonetta, following her everywhere she goes, and you get a quick glimpse of Jeanne for a split second too. Even the beginning scene mirrors the intro of the game, with the mass suicides taking place inside the Ragna Church. At the end of the trailer, Bayonetta fights a Beloved, elegantly dodging its every move and mercilessly taking it down. She then takes out her patented lolipop, true to her nature. As it stands, Gonzo Studios appears to be doing everything properly. If the film does well enough in the box office, maybe Gonzo and Platinum will consider bringing it over to the west, fingers crossed.
