One of the most genuinely disturbing PC games of all time is now a part of GOG.com’s PC gaming catalog.
Seriously, there weren’t too many games that bothered me as much as I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. Written by novelist Harlan Ellison (who also does the voice over narrative), Scream is most definitely a horror-influenced title. The trick to this one though is that it’s horror, but in the psychological sense as much as the physical. More so, in fact.
Since its debut way back in 1995, the game has garnered all kinds of praise and remains a true classic of the gaming realm. I think everybody who’s played it has a horror-story about the contents of the game’s tale too. I certainly won’t spoil anything here, but it’s… extremely disturbing to say the least. Yeah… let’s leave it at that.
Developer Night Dive (who have the coolest logo EVER) are to ‘blame’ for bringing Scream back to audiences. The company specializes in “finding classic, abandoned and forgotten PC games and bringing them back into the hands of gamers”- and that’s just cool.
If you want to relive the insanity that is I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, or experience it for the first time, it’s available right now on GOG.com (just staring at you, cold and motionless… from the abyss). It’ll cost you $5.99 USD.
