Wii U Voice Chat Supported By ‘Select Games’ Only

Nintendo have done it again.

If you’re hoping to get your voice chat on with the Wii U, then you might want to make sure you have a game that supports it.  Oh, and you’ll need to buy a headset with it too, as Nintendo won’t be selling one.

Nintendo have said that the voice chat feature with the Wii U will only work with ‘selected games’, which will include Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed III and Mass Effect 3.  In addition, the mic and speakers on the game pad will not work with voice chat, so you’ll need to buy a third party headset to actually do your talking.

The headsets in question will be wired, and there’s no confirmation about whether wireless headsets will supported.  But if you were hoping that Nintendo will have finally got fully on board with online gaming with the Wii U, then you’ll be sorely disappointed.
