Two new Umbrella Academy deluxe editions on the way

Probably hotter than it’s ever been, Dark Horse is giving Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s Umbrella Academy the (double) deluxe treatment.

Under the umbrella

Umbrella Academy made a pretty substantial impact when it first launched, way back in 2008. A critical darling, the quirky mini-series about an oddball collection of superheroes became a cult hit as well.

Now over a decade later, the property is probably at its height, seeing its first live action adaptation. And with that, Dark Horse has decided to go back to the beginning.

That means fans will be getting a pair of collector, hardcover editions, both landing in stores this fall.

The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite Library Edition collects the 2008 limited edition of the complete first series, Apocalypse Suite, with the short stories “Mon Dieu!” and “But the Past Ain’t Through with You,” as well as an expanded 50-page sketchbook section.

Similarly, The Umbrella Academy: Dallas Library Edition collects the 2009 limited edition of the complete second series, Dallas, with the short story “Anywhere but Here” and an expanded 36-page sketchbook section. Both sketchbook sections feature work from Way, Bá, and designer Tony Ong.

Dark Horse Comics

The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite Library Edition will hit stores on September 11, with the Dallas Library Edition following soon after, on November 13th. They’ll run you $39.99 USD each.

Also worth mentioning is that Hotel Oblivion, the latest in the Umbrella Academy series, is coming up too. That one will be in paperback format and will hit right along side the Apocalypse Suite this September.

Pre-orders are happening via AmazonBarnes & Noble, or your local comic shop
