Mobile Skylanders RPG on the way from Com2us

A year without a Skylanders? Nope, but the upcoming Skylanders RPG won’t be on home consoles.

Skylanders goes mobile

So, even though there won’t be a followup to Imaginators hitting in 2017, there will be further adventures in Skylands. Activision has announces today that they’ll be teaming with Com2us to produce a mobile RPG based on the franchise.

The developer behind Summoner’s War, Com2us has plenty of experience in the mobile arena. That bodes extremely well for what’s sure to be tagged as a major release for the Skylanders franchise. Just what this game will be though, is pretty much a complete mystery.

Yes, we know it’ll be an RPG, but what else this new Skylanders game will offer fans is a series of question marks. One thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be different. After all, Skylanders has always been a platformer/action game. That’s definitely going to change for this new game.

Will Com2us’ Skylanders offer connectivity to the toy line? Though it hasn’t been announced, I have to imagine that it will. If it does, assume that there’ll be a boxed edition of the game to go along with the app. The series has done that in the past, including a Portal for smartphone connectivity with the figures.

Basically, stay tuned. We’ll have more as it’s released, which I assume will be some time around E3 this June. In the meantime, don’t forget that season two of Skylanders Academy will be hitting Netflix at some point soon, and season three has already been greenlit.

So there’s a lot of Spyro and friends yet to come.
