Fighting the good fight for the Empire of Man, Empire Soldier Markus Kruber has no patience for Vermintide’s Skaven menace.
Fresh from developer FatShark comes the dossier for another of Vermintide’s playable characters, Markus Kruber, the “deadly but war weary Empire Soldier”. Kruger is a commander without his men thanks to his regiment meeting their end via ‘death magic’ in a battle.
After that incident, and as you might imagine, Kruger had had it with the service and went home to his native city of Ubersreik. On his way home, he found work with Victor Saltzpyre, a “Witch Hunter of the Order”. Helping to escort a dangerous wizard along the way, Kruger figured he’d earn a few bucks and not even have to go out of his way, as Ubersreik was the Witch Hunter’s destination.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that things probably don’t go according to plan for old Kruger. Thanks to the rising Chaos magic in Vermintide though, that’s a pretty safe bet as things don’t seem to be going to well for anyone in the Empire. You can read on here for a way more detailed (and pretty darn cool) account of what leads Kruger up to the opening of the game. It’s definitely worth a look, even if you’re not a Warhammer fan to any great degree, as it lets you in on a little of the backstory of this engrossing world that FatShark is adapting to their new first-person hack’n slash.
One f the most promising games I’ve seen based on the medieval Warhammer property from Games Workshop, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide should be out on consoles and the PC some time this year.
