Mirror of Fate HD stakes Steam

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD has officially arrived on the PC via Steam.

Set roughly (it jumps around a bit) 25 years after the events of the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate is actually a pretty important of the LoS mythos. The game follows Gabriel Belmont’s descendants Trevor and Simon (who’s names should be instantly recognizable to any fan of the original series) as they try and end the curse of the lord of vampires- Dracula.

Put simply, if you like classic Castlevania gameplay, this one’s for you. Also, if you’re playing through (or have played through) the Lords of Shadow saga that just completed with the release of Lords of Shadow 2, and haven’t played Mirror of Fate, you’ve actually missed a good deal of the narrative. Likewise, if you’re an Alucard fan, you’re going to want to dive into this one too as the reimagining of the character in the LoS universe is pretty great.

Made in the original side-scroller style melded with some great graphics and modern sensibilities thrown in for good measure, we had a great time with the 3DS original. The HD version of the game that hit consoles and now the PC, is basically the same game- just a lot better looking.
