X-O Manowar #20 (Comics) Preview

Aric is down and Unity triumphant… or the complete opposite of that.

X-O Manowar finally has it all, and his people finally have a land they can call home…but threats from all sides now threaten to destroy the man inside the armor, Aric of Dacia, and the peace he has struggled to secure. While unrest stirs and Aric’s camp threatens to rebel against him, the most dangerous strike force ever assembled – Unity – have joined forces with the Harbinger Foundation’s Toyo Harada to achieve but one goal: destroy X-O Manowar before his actions push in western civilization to the brink of all-out nuclear annihilation.

Well, the Unity saga rolls on and the team of some of the Valiant U’s most powerful and ruthless seemingly have Aric on the ropes. Though, with a character like him, is he ever really down and out or just strategizing his next surgical strike. And why is it that with every issue where he’s basically supposed to be the villain, I just find myself liking Aric more and more? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he’s 100% badass… could be.

One thing’s for sure, Robert Venditti continues to craft some very impressive superhero tales with the character. And on the artistic end, both, Cary Nord (can’t get enough of his work) and Vicente Cifuentes are making the action flow like fine wine.

The Unity story arc continues past X-O Manowar #20 and into January’s Unity #3 by the great Matt Kindt and artist Doug Braithwaite- honestly, don’t miss either issue. X-O Manowar #20 will be on the shelves on December 18th and Unity #3 is set to drop on January 15th.
