If this really is the last Metal Gear Solid game, then the series is going out with a pretty big bang.
Very much feels like goodbye, no? With MGSV of course, the hero that is Snake (well, the original Snake) falls into villainy. And that story point brings the series full-circle, closing it around the original Metal Gear games on the NES, where Snake (the later ‘version’ battles against Big Boss and Outer Heaven.
It’s certainly been a wild ride, both in the games and (as of late) in the real world for the Metal Gear series. Although I don’t doubt that we’ll see a rebirth at some point in the future from Konami, this may be it for a while. And that goes for the series’ creator as well, Hideo Kojima, who’s moved on.
So strap in, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain hits consoles on September 1st.
