Yes, your prayers have been answered, Capcom is remaking one of the most popular games in the Resident Evil series.
My favorite game in the set by far, and a fave of plenty of other Resident Evil fans, is undoubtably RE2. The PlayStation original changed up the formula laid down by the original game, adding a more frenzied and ‘action movie’ feel, and also added a pair of new protagonists that would become as synonymous with RE as Chris and Jill.
And now, after the original has seen a few updates, Resident Evil 2 is finally getting a renovation. There’s no date to report, and no platforms have been announced, but Capcom is saying this is a total reworking of the original, and that the game is just starting development. So that means it’s still a ways off from hitting your favorite console or the PC.
It’s set to be a remake that’s in line with the first revamp of RE though, the one from the GameCube, so you’re free to get your hopes up as high as they’ll possibly go even though you won’t be seeing anything from it for some time. As for the near future, Resident Evil 0 is still on the way, so at least there’s something to look forward to that’s not too far off.
