Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain tells a story of pain, vengeance, and… Les Enfantes Terribles.
Well, if it wasn’t already, MGSV just got a heck of a lot more interesting. Probably the capper to our multi-game trip through the life of Snake, the man who becomes Big Boss, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain takes gamers back to the 1980s for a story that looks like it’ll bring things full-circle.
Unless I’m seriously mistaken, that’s Solid Snake in there along with his brother Liquid. And if that’s the case, then that sets up the original Metal Gear games, and the first Metal Gear Solid, pretty definitively. Of course, that’s not all we see in this new trailer from the E3 show.
We also get more of Skullface in action, a way better look at Snake with his cyborg arm and weird head-shrapnel, and a few shots of what look like some kind of clones or… techno-zombies. Crazy, but also perfectly in line with MGS as a series and all the way-out stuff that it’s pulled off quite well over the years.
Oh, and of course, it looks phenomenal too.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain arrives for the PlayStation and Xbox families of home consoles on September 1st.
