There’s something about what JJ Abrams is doing with the next episode in the Star Wars franchise that just feels right. And awesome. Really, really awesome.
From the crashed Star Destroyer to the first glimpse of the older Han and Chewbacca, that’s just an awesome tease of what’s to come. Of course, even though we heard him there, we still haven’t see Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker… or who he’s talking to. It seems like it’s going to be a family member though, since he talks about himself, his father, and his sister (by the way, does Leia get a lightsaber in this?!).
As for new characters seen in the tease, we have no clue who that chrome-plated Stormtrooper is (though he looks awesome), and there’s a mystery man in black standing with him in that part where the troopers turn and stand at attention. Quite frankly, just about everything looks good so far, so cross your fingers that the finished product harkens back to the original films and carries that sensibility throughout. Though for now, it certainly seems like it does.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters this Christmas.
