You couldn’t make it up.
In an interesting turn of events, a petition has been started to urge Microsoft to “give us back the Xbox One we were promised at E3”, and reverse the changes that they made to their online policies after E3.
The petition, which at the time of writing has over 20,000 signatures, states “This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers uncertainty. We want this back. It can’t be all or nothing, there must be a compromise.”
It’s not clear whether these are people that are in favour of the original policies or just in favour of Microsoft not having changed their minds in the first place. It’s probably not going to change anything, but it will be interesting to see how far this goes.
