Hot Toys gives fans an early look at upcoming Doctor Doom

The main heavy of Avengers: Doomsday, Doctor Doom is set to get a figure from Hot Toys. Get a deeper look at the prototype.

Doomsday comes for the MCU

Set for release this December the 18th, Avengers: Doomsday is looking like yet another Marvel spectacle. A big part of that, is that the Russo bros. film brings in the cinematic universe’s biggest cast yet. It’s not just the (current version of the) Avengers that are onboard, but also the FF, a version of Fox’ X-Men, and many more.

That “many more” includes Chris Evans’ big return as Steve Rogers, plus Robert Downey Jr.’s return. Though, as you’re likely aware, the latter isn’t playing Tony Stark. Nope, instead and for reasons that are still unknown, Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom, the movie’s big villain.

Naturally, with that kind of a big-bad being introduced, there’s going to be merchandise. And thanks to an early look at Hot Toys’ Doctor Doom figure, we might have seen one of the best of the bunch. That glimpse came via this past SDCC, thorough there’s quite bit more to see than what was at retailer Sideshow‘s booth.

He is Doom

Not content with giving fans the Con-locked look mentioned above, Sideshow is back with a deeper dive. Taking center stage for that, we see the figure itself. And for those looking for authenticity, it seems pretty spot-on. Doom features Hot Toys‘ rolling eyeball feature, as well as a selection of accessories and a wired cape.

But hang on, because that’s not all. The piece has no fewer than four editions, which all are a bit different. Before we get to those though, the base version of Hot Toys’ Doctor Doom 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure is priced in at $285 USD.

That’s actually the same price as the figure’s Special Edition, which also includes a life-sized Doctor Doom-themed ring. Then there’s the Ultimate Version, which ups the price to $390 USD. That edition subtracts the ring, but adds a “mystery accessory” and a light up Sentinel hand base. Prefer the full experience? If so, then the Ultimate Bonus Version includes all of the above for the same $390 USD price tag as the Ultimate Version.

We’re still not done though, because there’s an optional ‘sold separately’ accessory to talk about as well. That’d be a throne, which looks pretty slick, for those who might want to go all-out and outfit their displays with more of a royal feel. All of the above is up for pre-order via Sideshow’s online shop, and it looks like the base version is available at additional online retailers as well.
