Epic Mickey: Rebrushed gets a brand new dev diary

Tumbling towards release, the remaster of Epic Micky is looking great, and has a new developer diary starring Warren Spector.

Suitably Epic

“No matter who you are, where you are, or how old you are, Mickey Mouse was part of your life at some point. That’s why we felt really responsible to provide you with the best Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed journey you can have.”

Warren Spector, Creative Director

Thinking about the above statement for a second, it’s probably true. Whatever you think of the current state of Disney, the classic video games starring the studio’s most popular characters are almost exclusively gems. Can you lump 2010’s, Epic Mickey, in with those titles? Eh, maybe.

While most probably wound’t included it with the 8 and 16bit legends, the game was fairly well received, dropping exclusively for the Wii, before moving to other consoles in 2012. It was something of a hit at retail too, since it spawned a sequel a few years later. That though, was it for the property, until this year.

Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will bring back that original title, though of course outfitted for a new generation of fans and modern platforms. Once again with the original game’s Warren Spector attached, the remaster brings improved looks, camera, and more, while seeking to keep the spirit of the classic intact.

The new developer diary for the title runs through the high points, complete with Spector hosting.

The epic action returns this month, when Epic Mickey: Rebrushed arrives next week, on September 24th, for the Switch, PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. If you’re thinking about getting the game too, you might want to pre-order digitally. Yeah, yeah, we know it’s not cool to pre-order anything digital, but in the case of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, there are some cool perks to be had.

For one thing, there’s the Costume Pack, which comes with 3 costumes. And for a second thing, if you’re playing on consoles and not the PC, you can get started 24 hours early. Why that’s not included with PC pre-orders we don’t know, but it isn’t.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
