A living planet lays on the horizon, as humanity searches for a new home in The Signal

It’s the far future, and Earth is a memory for mankind, who searches the stars for a new world in open-world survival title The Signal.

A new home in the stars

There’re plenty of people who believe humans will eventually have to move out from Earth, and that element is the main impetus for the story in the just announced The Signal. From Canadian studio Goose Byte, The Signal is an open-world, survival-centric multiplayer title. But it’s not what you might be expecting, as on top of all of that, it also pushes “player creativity over violence”.

Here’s your first look:

The last remaining humans have abandoned Earth in search of a new home. Humanity’s future relies on an expedition led by you to scout an uncharted planet. But how welcome will you be in a world that appears to be sentient?

Goose Byte press release

Created in Unreal 5, The Signal is both multiplayer and open-world. Goose Byte says that its living world will play host to multiple biomes for players to explore, build, and survive in. But even with de-emphasized action, you won’t be alone. Aside from other players (there’ll be 16 at a time), The Signal’s world will be dotted with plenty of flora and fauna, plus some alien landmarks to boot.

The game is currently without a release date, but is in active development for both consoles and the PC.
