The tabletop sensation Gloomhaven has quested to the PC as a hit role-playing title already, but now it’s on the way to conquer consoles.
Enter the Gloom
Are you familiar with Gloomhaven? The big-box tabletop RPG became a mega-hit in recent years, thanks to it’s expansive maps, deep world, and myriad of miniatures to play with.
The dark-fantasy title was so popular, that it even spawned a PC adaptation, as a tactical, deck-building RPG from Twin Sails Interactive and developer Flaming Fowl Studios. That has been quite well received as well, and you know what that means – console port time.
Saber Interactive will be tackling that, and bringing the title to console fans for a September launch. And as you’ll see in the trailer below, it’s looking pretty great.
Originally released on PC and Mac with over 500k units sold plus “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, Gloomhaven is set in a dark fantasy universe that combines the best elements of strategic board gaming and digital adventuring. Delve into the entire epic board game campaign, covering the original 95 scenarios and event missions brimming with danger and excitement, to become the best mercenary team in the city of Gloomhaven. Or play through the digital-exclusive Guildmaster campaign, where over 160 missions await. There are thousands of abilities to discover, along with hundreds of perks, enhancements, and gear to customize your loadout as you master your team synergies and deck to survive against hordes of fearsome undead, monsters, and demons.

Two editions, even more content
Now, as you might’ve noted as well, Gloomhaven will ship in two flavors, with the Mercenaries Edition and the Gold Edition. The difference is additional content, with both versions infusing even more into the already beefy title.
The Mercs Edition is packed up with “Solo Scenarios: Mercenary Challenges”, while the Gold includes both that and “Jaws of the Lion” (and a set of 4 skins).
- “Jaws of the Lion” is Gloomhaven’s first major content expansion and includes four new mercenaries, new enemies, 22 new city events, 10 new items, 24 new battle goals, 25 scenarios from the original board game expansion and more, delivering over 30 hours of new content that takes players to the undercity of Gloomhaven.
- The “Solo Scenarios: Mercenary Challenges” DLC is a digital adaptation of Isaac Childres’ board game expansion, refined and rebalanced for digital play. This second DLC offers 17 deadly Solo Scenarios that players can complete to obtain 17 unique items – each designed for one specific mercenary. Featuring 20 hours of bonus content, this DLC creates a punishing challenge for experienced players to truly prove their skills.
Both versions will be out on September 18th for the Switch, plus PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Pre-orders are open right now for the physical editions, which includes the game and a little bonus with “one of six exclusive collectible cards”. Just keep in mind that if you want the extra card, you’ll have to act fast. The promotion is only good “while supplies last”.
