It’s been some amazing few years for Venom, a character that’s gone from Spider-Man arch-foe to hero, and has finally morphed into a symbiote god.
Venommm Venommmmmm
Anyone else having trouble getting that Eminem song out of their head? No? Just me? Okay then. At least it’s related to this story, which is about Venom’s latest comic from Marvel. What do you mean ‘ongoing series’? That doesn’t exist anymore, as Marvel is restarting from #1 once again.
It has been a terrific few years for the character though, that’s undeniable. From starring in his first motion picture (which is heading towards a sequel), to absolutely exploding in the pages of Marvel Comics and becoming one of their top heroes, Venom is all the rage.
Now with Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman’s run ended, it’s time for Al Ewing to take up the reigns. Ewing will be joined by Ram V in terms of the scripting, which is fitting since there are now 2 heroes in Venom. I don’t mean the symbiote and Eddie, nope I mean Venom and his son, Dylan.
If you missed it, Dylan Brock is now a super-powered symbiotic hero as well, and is the new ‘Venom’ of Earth. With Dylan on the 616 fighting evil, his dad is off to the infinite vastness of space to become the new King in Black, taking over for the vanquished Knull.
And aside from the way-out plot, it’s going to look all kinds of awesome with artist Bryan Hitch onboard.
“When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since,” Ram V said. “This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in—you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
