Ghostbusters: The Video Game gets a remaster

As you might’ve seen, the Ghostbusters are back. More precisely, the excellent video game from a few years back… is back. For a remaster.

Who you gonna call?

Believe it or not, the original Ghostbusters opened in theaters on June 8th, all the way back in 1984. Not quite as long ago was the launch of the Ghostbusters video game.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game hit retail in 2009 to a solid response. It starred the voices of the original ‘Busters and a great script that was perfectly in line with the films. Despite the dull title, the game remains the “official” Ghostbusters 3 for many fans.

And now it’s back, in remastered form.

As the new rookie on the Ghostbusters crew, you’ll team up with your favorite characters from the films, reunited by the voices of Aykroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson as Stantz, Spengler, Venkman and Zeddemore, alongside Annie Potts, Brian Doyle-Murray, William Atherton and Max von Sydow. Manhattan is overrun once more by ghosts, demons and other paranormal creatures unleashed by a mysterious force, and only the Ghostbusters can drive this evil back to whatever dimension it crawled from and save the Big Apple.

Saber Interactive press release

From Saber Interactive, the new Remaster will feature all the stuff you’d expect. You’ll just get enhanced graphics this time around, to go with it. Other than that though, this is the same title that appeared on the Xbox 360 and PS3. If you actually played that game, you know that that’s not a bad thing by any stretch. And if you didn’t, well now’s your chance to actually dig in.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is set to debut on the Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and the PC. As for that PC version, Ghostbusters will be the latest in a series of Epic Games Store exclusives.

Look for it some time “later this year”.
