Mondo is still very much starting to dip into the action figure realm, but as usual what they had to show at Comic Con was impressive.
Mondo scale
The 12″ scale of collector figure has gotten crowded as of late. Excellent examples can be found from more than. a few companies these days, all of which are targeted at the “collector” market. So what makes Mondo’s offerings different?
Well, primarily a few things. The sculpting and makeup of these figures has been tremendous, and the licenses are most impressive. I have a few of the company’s Ninja Turtles figures, and they’re right there with any other large-scale figures that I own.
That line is just one of the series’ that Mondo was showing at Comic Con by the way. Not the Turtles themselves, which have been out for a while, but an excellent expansion that includes Mirage Comics versions of Casey Jones, Foot ninjas, and Shredder himself. If you’re a fan of the Turtles’ origin, you’re going to want to see these.
Masters of the Universe
Another known line that Mondo offers, Masters has yet to actually debut. But even before the first figures hit the market, the company is expanding with Faker and Merman. Merman of course, is a totally new sculpt, and looks awesome. Faker isn’t, though he’s also stocking some awesome detailing, specifically with that alternate head, that showcases a partially torn away face.
Half Life and more
Those might be the biggest lines so far being shown off from the company, but they weren’t alone. Also on display was the Batman and Mister Freeze from The Animated Series that we’ve seen already. Plus there was a large scale Kratos from the PS4’s God of War (that somehow got deleted from my camera) and Gordon Freeman from Half Life 3, complete with headcrab.
