Xbox One slim console leaks ahead of presser

Microsoft’s Xbox press conference might be later on today, but we already know what part of it will be dedicated to, since a shot of the Xbox One slim has leaked out.

Xbox One slimWell, scratch one rumor and one announcement off the slate for today: the Xbox One S is most definitely (probably) real. Rumored for months, pictures of the little console popped up on a Neogaf forum late last night. And the images are pretty clearly from online listings, so they look as legit as you can get.

And if they are, then the slim is a pretty impressive upgrade. While not being the Scorpio, it still remains to be seen whether or not that little number will show up at this E3, the slim is 40% smaller than what you have now and includes 4k output, high dynamic range, a 2TB hard drive, a “streamlined” controller, and a vertical stand.

I’m hard-pressed to see where the streamlining is on the controller in the image, since it looks pretty much the same as the current Xbox One pad to me,  but everything else sounds good. At the very least, the slim sounds like it might be a good holdover for those looking to upgrade (of get into the Xbox One), but don’t want to wait for the Scorpio, which might be a ways off yet.

Stay tuned, we’ll have coverage of the Xbox press event later today, where all this will (presumably) be detailed officially.
