Coming next year, Syndrome sets you on a starship. Waking up fresh from cryo-sleep though, something’s amiss in a big way.
Oh does this one look creepy…
Set up in a fashion that’s reminiscent of some of the greats horror properties ever, Syndrome starts out with your character awakening after a stay in a cryo-chamber, on board a space craft. When you come to, you find that there’s no one around, which leads to finding a few bodies, and then finding a few that probably should be dead, but are still very much walking around.
A first-person title, developer Camel 101 and Bigmoon Entertainment’s newest title is not an action affair, and actually has you defending yourself only when necessary, and avoiding danger whenever possible. So it kind of sounds like a more action-oriented Amnesia, and that sounds pretty great to me.

- Claustrophobic horror―Countless threats, both physical and psychological, await inside the ship.
- Fight or flee―Use weapons and ammo wisely, as they are in limited supply.
- Eerie exploration―there’s plenty to discover if you take a moment to search your surroundings.
- Nothing is what it seems―It’s up to you to find out what’s really going on aboard the ship.
- Reactive enemies―Cause a stir or make some noise and they’ll pick up on your location.
- Oculus Rift support―Experience total immersion with Syndrome in VR.
Well I like the Rift support a lot; that could make this into an instant classic of sorts, if the dev teams manage to get the gameplay and atmosphere right. The survival horror genre on the whole just kind of screams out for some kind of VR representation, so lets hope that Syndrome hits the nail on the visored head. Something very much worth looking forward to right there.
As to when you’ll actually get to play Syndrome, you can look for it in 2016 for the Xbox One, PS4, Mac, and PC (Windows and Linux).
