A set of classic platformers that don’t quite get their due that often, Gex Trilogy is bringing the lounge lizard back this year.
Dana Gould lives
To call the Gex series ‘niche’ is probably more than a little fair. Starring a wisecracking gecko voiced by comedian Dana Gould, all three games spoofed 70s and 80s pop culture, and appeared on just about every classic late-90s console. While none of the games included under the banner were blockbusters, they did accrue a decent amount of positive reviews, especially when it came to the second title in the set, Gex: Enter the Gecko.
If you’ve never played any of the above though, you’ll have a fresh chance coming up this summer. Revived by Limited Run Games, Gex Trilogy will make use of the Carbon Engine and include all three of the originals, complete with “improved controls, updated visuals, trophy and achievement support, and more”, according to LRG.
Some of the “and more” will include rewind and save state options, a wide-screen presentation option for the latter two games, plus Music and Media Players.
Gex Trilogy brings three classic platforming titles from the wise-cracking Gecko’s glory days to modern consoles powered by the Carbon Engine, packing together Gex’s best-selling adventures. Gex, Gex: Enter the Gecko, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko have been lovingly remastered with improved controls, updated visuals, trophy and achievement support, and more.
The Carbon Engine is Limited Run Games’ in-house, proprietary engine for bringing retro games to modern platforms through emulation. Designed for the most wholly authentic experience possible, the Carbon Engine presents the games you love in just the way you remember.

As mentioned Gex Trilogy is heading to consoles and PC this summer, arriving both physically and digitally for the PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
