Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O hits Steam, complete with launch discount

Sega began the rebirth of its storied fighting game series this week, with the release of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O on the PC.

Here we go

Well here we are in 2025, and we’re once again talking about Virtua Fighter. Though the series has been in a kind of dormancy for a while, publisher Sega recently revealed that a brand new Virtua Fighter is coming, and that a new revamp of Virtua Fighter V was set to arrive well in advance of it. And while the former is still a ways off, the latter is officially available now, as Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O has landed for the PC, via Steam.

Built off of Virtua Fighter V Ultimate Showdown, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O stocks both rollback netcode and balance adjustments, which Sega says are the first alterations to the title in thirteen years. That’s not all though, as the fighting game now supports 60fps/4K resolution too, so it should be looking better than ever.

Right along with the base edition of the game, Sega has released Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. – 30th Anniversary Edition. Also apparently exclusive to Steam on the PC, the 30th Anniversary Edition of the fighting game stocks a host of bonuses, including:

  • 30th Anniversary Soundtrack Collection including more than 200 unreleased tracks
  • Exclusive Artbook containing sketches and other never-before-seen art from the original game’s pre-production
  • 30th Anniversary Swimsuit Costume Set with beachwear outfits for all characters
  • DLC Legendary Pack including customization items, stages, character models and background music from the original Virtua Fighter
  • Yakuza Series Collaboration Pack with character costumes, background music, and stamps from the “Yakuza” series
  • 30th Anniversary in-game Rank Titles
  • 30th Anniversary Wallpaper set

Sega press release

If you’re itching for a virtua-fight, now’s a great time to buy, as both editions are currently sporting a cool 20% off the asking price. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is tagged at just $15.99 USD (regular price, $19.99), and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. – 30th Anniversary Edition is priced in at $39.99 USD (regular price, $49.99). Just be quick about it if you want to take advantage, as it looks like the deals won’t be sticking around past February 3rd.

Fans aren’t done with Virtua Fighter though, not by a long shot, as word of the next game in the series is still oncoming and there’s a tournament to talk about. The Virtua Fighter Open Championship will be a global tourney set to make use of the new Steam edition of the game.

Coming up this spring, the Virtua Fighter Open Championship will pit the winners of “regional qualifiers” up against one another at a Grand Final Tournament. Expect much more on the event soon.
