Classic superhero property The Phantom is getting an equally classic-looking beat ’em up, and pre-orders are open now.
Slam evil
Remember The Phantom? A big budget feature film starring Billy Zane, The Phantom opened up in theaters back in 1996, and brought one of the first comic book superheroes to theaters for the first time. We haven’t seen much of the purple-clad character since then unfortunately, but a new video game adaptation is set to bring him back to fans once again.
Spread out across 15 levels of play, fans will be able to take control of The Phantom himself in the new title, or alternatively his partner Diana Palmer. The duo will be able to call on both Hero, Phantom’s steed, and Devil the Wolf, as they face down the deadly Singh Brotherhood, a group of vicious pirates up to no good.
Developer Art of Play and King Features announced the game a while back, but now we’ve got a new look at it in action, plus some news of a pre-order. That campaign kicks off today, and offers up both “digital and physical rewards” for players.
Before we get to that though, here’s the latest look at the game in action:
“The global appeal of The Phantom has endured across generations throughout the franchise’s history in the world of pop culture. Partnering with Art of Play on this new video game gives fans yet another way to connect with the classic character in a modern way, and we are eager for fans to experience this thrilling gaming adventure,”
